The functionality of a user system is dependent on the priorly determined organisational workflows, the demands placed on the new workflow and the integrated business systems. We decide which workflow model is most fitting based on the following factors:
  • Analysis of the data levels dependent on the business systems involved
  • Business Process Model
  • Organisation diagram
  • User and role structure
  • BPMN simulation

Rights management

Content, media and functions should usually be represented in a personalised manner. We distinguish between two categories of rights management:
  • Digital rights management
  • and role-based access management

Digital rights management refers to processes whereby the use of digital media is to be controlled. It offers new distribution possibilities to providers who implement such DRM systems for controlling their data use.

Role management on user level is generally realised through a directory service, whereby individual functions within a workflow or process chain can be determined depending on the role.

Service provider integration

Vertical workflow integration means that external or internal service providers, partners or suppliers inevitably have to be programmatically integrated or connected to existing systems. Our experience has shown:
  • system landscapes are diverse,
  • the technical expertise for system integration is often lacking,
  • resources and methods are not available
  • and there are misgivings about technical innovations.

We are a reliable partner to plan, process and guide the integration process, especially in the areas of media technology, IT, organisation and modelling. We take responsibility, in terms of the defined workflow, for technical methods such as Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) or portal approaches.

Data Processing

When introducing a new system or expanding an existing one, the question often arises as to how the old data can be transferred to the new system. As part of our service we make various connectors available, which take over the inventory data from file systems or databanks and process and transfer them for the purpose of the destination application. For this we foreground the following aspects:
  • The takeover of existing content-related and organisational metadata
  • Automatic generation of technical metadata
  • Management of the process chain via RMI clients from the server’s side
  • Monitoring and quality control of data transfer
  • Where necessary, full service integration through the involvement of an editorial team

Image and media database

From the user’s perspective, a Media Asset Management solution leads to an image and media databank. The system database makes the data previously captured in the workflow available in a structured way and enables qualified access to the content. In our view the system encompasses the following components:
  • logical ER model
  • the essence, i.e. the raw format of an item
  • the metadata as property of an item
  • the legal and access catalogue as extended property of an object
  • the workflow model and archive connector
  • the application server for system mapping and integrating additional services and systems

In archiving the data relevant to an enterprise, the legal obligations for archiving and storing come first and foremost. The applicable law stipulates how long data have to remain available. Furthermore, digital data should be maintained and readable for as long as possible. We will advise you on the memory size, the implementation of legal conditions and the choice of the right system.
